My recent stay at Generator Rome was fantastic! The location was convenient, just a short walk from the Termini station. Despite the area being a bit run down, I never felt unsafe. The hotel itself wasnice and neat, comparable to a 3-star hotel in NYC. The breakfast in the morning was a great way to start the day, and the rooms, although small, were adequate for my needs. The hotel also had air conditioning, a relief during the hot summer days. I had a pleasant experience at Generator Rome and would definitely recommend it to others.

I didn't really like it at all. I was hoping it was a super hostel and it's not.
first 2 nights I slept in a mixed room with 6 beds that was almost not cooled by the air conditioning and was very hot at night (middle of summer, month of July). locks on the bathroom doors of this room (206) were not working. when I asked for the change of room I went to a 4-bed room (203) and they didn't charge me extra, it was very good and air was working. doors of the rooms and entrance are with magnetic card. entrance door to the hostel was not working. Luckily there is always someone at the reception and it opens quickly. elevator didn't work very well. You always had to give the order to go up or down sometimes. Being on the second floor it was more convenient to go up the stairs (unless you have bags). Another big drawback is that you have to leave your bags when you arrive (until you check in) or when you leave (until you get your ticket). You have to pay (quite a bit) to keep your luggage, Another contra that seems to be a feature. from what I was told, of this hostel chain is that they don't have a kitchen to cook in and they don't let you bring food to eat in the common rooms (it affects the budget), In my case I found out by being there. locker was big but the opening system didn't let you put the (medium) bag inside. location is not the best because it just starts an area that is not visually nice and gives a feeling of insecurity (but I never had problems with insecurity and always came back around 12 or more at night). I don't know. for this price I think there must be better options in Rome...

room that I was assigned really was like the images that show, wide, illuminated, wide and comfortable bathroom, they are separated the shower from the WC, inside the room is like having two bathrooms, if you are in the shower and someone requires to use the WC is super convenient. comfortable bunks, each bed has light and power outlet so you do not interrupt the others, impeccable sheets, locker under the bed wide. Excellent cleanliness, of the room and rest of the common areas. If you arrive before the check in or parts after the check out you can leave your suitcase in the payment lockers that are at the entrance. breakfast paid simple but abundant. staff speaks Spanish, they are very attentive. There is a bar where you can wait and have a drink, nice atmosphere. quality/price ratio is optimal. hotel is located near the Termini train station, 3 or 4 blocks away, so it is not an elegant area but there are police officers. It is important to point out that being near Termini is a plus when you arrive very late at night or when you have to go to the race airport. One block away, almost behind the hostel is a subway station, plus if you come for a walk and are tired of walking.
The location is a bit scary but that's OK, because there is a police surveillance and there are restaurants in the same block of the Hostel.

Convenient location. I loved the rooftop bar at night, even if the alcohol was expensive. The staff was helpful in letting me print my tickets when my phone was stolen. I recommend it.

Perfect room cleanliness. Stylish youth interior downstairs. Fast wi-fi. Quick check-in procedure. The Colosseum is about 1.5 km away and can be reached on foot.
It is not immediately clear where the entrance is, although there is a sign, but under it and to the left - the doors that do not open, and the bell that does not work. The front door with the bell to the right of the sign... I got a dark number with a window in the driveway. At first it was almost claustrophobic, sitting for five minutes with the door open, because I thought that this little dark room of 14 sq.m. lacked air and light. Dirty streets. Contingent on the street is colored, I want to quickly run into the room and not go out.

best hostel I've been to in a few years. Clean, Clean venue, conveniently located (close to Termini Station). staff helped to solve problems. room has a comfortable bed that does not wobble with the slightest rustle, in the headboard there are sockets and individual lighting, bed linen is clean and fresh. My room had two showers, clean and spacious. hostel is located near the metro station "Vittorio Emanuele", from where it is convenient to go anywhere in the city, you can also walk to, for example, Colosseum in about 15 minutes. Everybody writes that it's scary to go back to the hostel at night. I got the impression that the locals don't care about you, However. be careful, area is really dysfunctional,
My room was shared, I was confused by the imbalance between boys and girls, in the room for six there were 5 guys and one girl (me! From the very beginning I felt uncomfortable, as a result of my discomfort turned into a very unpleasant situation with a guy from South America, room could not be changed, because everything was busy, offered to pay extra and move into a woman's room, next day. guard offered to help, situation was resolved, unpleasant emotions remained. Despite the fact that the guard is ready to help at any moment, it will be difficult to dock to him, calling the reception in an emergency situation is quite problematic, I hope that the administration of the hostel will read my feedback and will make efforts to ensure that the balance between boys and girls in the rooms, guest should not feel uncomfortable.

Very friendly staff, good breakfast, spaceful and veru clean rooms. Close to the main railway station, where was good connections to the airport.
Breakfast room quite small, sometimes had to wait for free table. Quite long way to walk to the old town. Of course trams and busses went quite close the hotel.

I stayed at Generator for a few nights while exploring the city. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was well-organized. The location near Termini station and the metro made it convenient for getting around. The interior of the hostel was tastefully decorated, making it feel more like a hotel. The private room with a big bed and spacious bathroom was a nice touch. a great experience and I hope to find another hostel like Generator in the future.
Would definitely recommend this hotel.

The location was excellent, a quick 5 minute walk to the Termini Station, as well as a Metro stop right around the corner. It was also a short 10-15 minute stroll to the Colosseum. The breakfast was good, with a large selection of pastries as well as meats, eggs, cheeses, cereal, bread, yogurt, and juice. The staff was friendly and helpful and was willing to arrange for some local tours.
The beds were slightly hard, but it is typical of most European hotels.

Quiet, courteous staff, bilangual front office and proximity to train station.
Meals. Feeding system can be improved. Breakfast basket can be enriched further and orther meals put on request, even if it means outsourcing the services.

Spent my Christmas holidays at a hostel in a bustling city. Despite my apprehension, there were some things I liked. For starters, the hostel had complimentary breakfast every morning and also provided free Wi-Fi access throughout the property. the hostel was also conveniently located near public transportation and within walking distance to various city attractions.
